I am a PhD student at the Syracuse University School of Information Studies (iSchool). I am advised by Dr. Jaime Banks. I study how humans, espcially children, perceive mental capacities and moral patiency, relationality in social machines (e.g., voice assistants, chatbots, and social robots), and how their perceptions shape the way they interact with machines and humans. AI has introduced polyamorous and non-binary models of connection, engagement, or even love, leaving us to explore its potential implications for intimacy, relationships, and identity. So, I often navigate the broad spectrum of questions: “If AI can perfectly simulate love, does it matter whether it has true consciousness?” “Can AI help us transcend solipsism by introducing new perspectives, or does it reinforce it by only showing us what we want to see?” OR “Do we see ourselves through seeing minds in AI?”
